A collaboration that goes beyond a single day

An action on the beach can be the beginning of something bigger. For NAECO, the collaboration with Universal Plastic combines two complementary ways of tackling marine plastic pollution: the direct participation of its team and support for clean-ups carried out by other organisations.

Through the campaign NAECO por Mares Limpios, this relationship connects people’s experience with action on the ground and with the digital recording of environmental information. The commitment is not just the image of one day: it can be followed through the data and reports linked to each clean-up.

The NAECO team, first-hand

Our team-building days take the team out of its usual environment and bring people together around a shared goal: caring for the sea. During the activity, participants collect waste and see the problem of plastic pollution up close, while using the Universal Plastic app to record information.

NAECO has held two team-building days with Universal Plastic: one in 2025 and one in 2026. On both, its team took part directly in a clean-up. According to the campaign breakdown, the two clean-ups carried out by the team record a total of 28.375 kg. These actions should not be confused with the clean-ups funded by NAECO and carried out by other organisations.

On both days, held in 2025 and 2026, the NAECO team shared an experience by the sea that combined collaboration, environmental action and data recording. The clean-ups took place at La Arena and El Olivar; their reports make it possible to consult the information recorded for each action.

In the 2025 activity, different types of materials were also identified among the waste collected.

Become Blue Verification: a commitment that acts every month

NAECO’s participation does not end with its employees’ activities. Through Become Blue Verification, its commitment continues every month: NAECO supports clean-ups carried out by external organisations that work on the ground and record their results on the Universal Plastic platform.

The company regularly receives ONDAs and content linked to these actions. In this way, the collaboration connects the funding of clean-ups with information and evidence that help to track and communicate impact over time.

The campaign records 1,253.015 kg of waste in its counter of accepted clean-ups. The breakdown provided lists 19 records from external organisations: 16 accepted and 3 completed and pending acceptance. These actions are reported as clean-ups supported or funded by NAECO, not as days carried out by its own team. The campaign figure should not be added to the team’s own clean-ups without confirming whether it already includes them.

Combining direct action with support for other organisations makes it possible to understand the commitment from two perspectives: what the team experiences first-hand and what the company helps to drive beyond those days.

From the clean-up to the evidence

Each clean-up can link action on the ground with information about the waste and its circumstances. The app and the ONDAs make it possible to organise and consult the data and associated reports, so that communication does not rely solely on a statement of intent.

In this collaboration, Universal Plastic has prepared digital reports and communication materials for NAECO. The Become Blue Verification approach connects environmental actions with traceable data that can support corporate communication and sustainability reporting, always in line with the information available and its review status.

This process does not automatically turn every record into a verified result: it is important to distinguish accepted clean-ups from those that are still pending, and to check the figures before communicating them.

The value of keeping the commitment

NAECO and Universal Plastic have an ongoing relationship, with regular delivery of ONDAs and content. That continuity makes it possible to connect the team’s experiences with the results of the supported actions, and with resources to share the journey in a more concrete way.

People who take part. Organisations that act. Data that helps understand and communicate every action.
