What is ODIS and why does it matter?

Its mission: to ensure that ocean data collected by governments, research centres, technology companies, and citizen organisations can interoperate with one another.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In other words, ODIS is the digital layer that makes ocean knowledge shareable, comparable, and useful for public decision-making.<\/p>\n

Thanks to this network, a country can see its ocean in a global context<\/strong>: contrast its data with other regions, identify patterns, and steer national policies based on real evidence.[\/vc_column_text][vc_zigzag][split_line_heading animation_type=”line-reveal-by-space” font_style=”h2″ line_reveal_by_space_text_effect=”default” content_alignment=”default” mobile_content_alignment=”inherit” link_target=”_self” text_content=”A step toward data-driven ocean governance” text_direction=”default”][\/split_line_heading][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]Universal Plastic\u00ae has been officially incorporated into the Ocean Data and Information System (ODIS)<\/strong><\/a>, the global network led by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC-UNESCO).<\/p>\n

This means every local action (a cleanup, a report, an image) becomes part of the global ocean digital intelligence.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Universal Plastic\u2019s data becomes visible and reusable for UNESCO Member States<\/strong>, researchers, and intergovernmental bodies.<\/p>\n
